    Frequently Asked Questions

It is essential to ensure that the bike is serviced on a regular basis, but you should also do routine maintenance checks to ensure that it is in good working order.

The type of oil used in your motorcycle, as well as the number of miles and frequency with which it is operated, will determine how often you replace the oil. The suggested service intervals will be specified in your user manual, but as a rule of thumb:

    • Mineral oil should be changed every 2,000 to 3,000 miles, or once a year at least. Some experts suggest doing it at least twice a year.
    • Replace synthetic oil every 7,000 to 10,000 miles, or at least once a year.
    • Replace semi-synthetic oil every 5,000 to 6,000 miles, or once a year at the very least.
    •

Surprisingly, if you don’t ride your motorcycle often or only take short journeys, you may need to change your oil at more frequent intervals. Replace your oil every three months if you can’t ride your motorbike for at least 30 minutes every one to 2 weeks, as is the case during the winter.

There is a limit to how long motor oil can last. Oil deteriorates over time just by sitting in the engine. It becomes less viscous with time, making it less effective at maintaining optimum lubrication between moving parts. The motor oil may eventually break down depending on the oil type and additives in the lubricant. Furthermore, water and hydrocarbon traces pollute the oil over time as you drive your motorbike.

Only when at lower temperature 10w40 is thicker than 5w40. It’s exactly the same at operational temperature. At very low temperatures, multi-viscosity oils with a lower W number are intended to flow better and hence lubricate better. If the vehicle only requires 10w-40, there is no need to use a 5w-40.
